I spent two days in Paje village. Paje is a village on the Tanzanian island of Unguja, part of Zanzibar. It is located on the southeast coast between the villages of Bwejuu and Jambiani. I did not do much but take leisure walks along the shoreline that went on forever. I had a disgusting sunburn to show for it. Paje beach is popular for kite surfers but in the short time, I was there it was quiet because there wasn’t much wind on offer. Not only that it was also low tide and the ocean vomited all over the beach. I did not get the pristine white beach sand and turquoise water experience one hopes for. The village had a sense of stillness, the community was kind and daily conversation with the Masaai tribe’s men who walk the beach selling their crafts was not only appreciated, educational but also interesting.
