Bazique enters the local annual music festival programme with their inaugural three days music and performing arts festival taking place 16 –  18 March 2018 at The Elgin Grabouw Country Club. The festival is a collaboration between various promoters Sexy Groovy Love, Pop Bottles, Wolfkop Weekender, Diskotekah, Cape Town Electronic Music Festival and with a touch of madness from our overseas friends and The Secret Garden Party (UK). The festival provides transportation the Bazique Bus which leaves from a pickup point in either Seapoint or Observatory and dropped right at the festival gate. L’Atelier 2018 Art Competition Submissions Are Now Open

 L’Atelier is one of Africa’s art competitions that was created two years ago for young visual artists aged 21 to 35 with the opportunity to develop their talents abroad. The L’Atelier art competition is a partnership between Barclays aAfrica Group Limited nd the South African National Association for the Visual Arts (SANAVA) The competition is open for a number of countries, where Barclays Africa has a presence. Artists who are permanent residents of and residing in South Africa, Botswana, Zambia, Ghana, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Nigeria, Namibia, Mozambique, Mauritius or Seychelles are invited to enter. Online entries opened on the L’Atelier website on 1 February 2018 and close on 27 April 2018 at 16:00. King Tha Womxn Only Festival Showcase

To celebrate her birthday on the 31 March 2018, Thandiswa Mazwai will be celebrating with a Womxn Only Music Festivals named King Tha Day. Womxn it is an all inclusive term used to describe cis-gender, gender nonconforming, trans women. The King Tha Day programme will kick off at 4pm with a market, talks and poetry in the small venue. Speakers include author and Professor Pumla Dineo Gqola, lesbian activist and filmmaker Bev Ditsie and Mail & Guardian Arts Editor Milisuthando Bongela. Standard Bank Young Artist Award Winner for Jazz Thandi Ntuli and Ntsiki Mazwai will perform on the main stage before King Tha and the all-female band she established five years ago. King Tha Day is a precursor to the “AmandlaWomxnFest, a weekend-long womxn only festival that I am planning just outside Johannesburg in August,” explains Thandiswa Mazwai.
