Tshwane, so close yet so far, a drive to Tshwane is a slightly annoying equivalence of driving to Fourways or taking a flight to Cape Town. That is exactly what I thought when I received an invitation to attend the opening of The Regency Apartment Hotel in Menlyn. The Regency Apartment Hotel is a 220 suite fully furnished apartment hotel by Key Spirit Development in partnership with MD Siyanda Dlamini’s new hotel management company. It is a R350 million property development that consists of apartment-style hotel suites in one and two bedroom options which translates into a comfortable stay for both short and long-term guests. Each apartment is fitted with luxury finishes, including appliances by Miele, air-conditioning, restaurants, bar, gym, and security. The first time I heard of Siyanda Dlamini was on Radio 702 whilst he was being interviewed on The Money Show with Bruce Whitfield. He sounded sincere and his career trajectory equally inspiring.
Annoyance is not the feeling I encountered because the invite for the event came with an option to be driven and accommodated overnight at the hotel. The ladies from Consult Bespoke PR always get it. The night was quite special, I say this because first of all, there was San Pellegrino sparkling water on tap and WIFI with a strong working signal. A cup of coffee in hand, the hypnotizing Vusi Thembekwayo was the keynote speaker after Siyanda, the incredible Tamara Dey sang, we danced, mingled and thereafter we peacefully slept in comfort. Although, we were tempted to go continue the night at the popular Pretoria joint, Ayepyep. Luckily we know when to call it a night and not risk the chance of spoiling a good thing. Dancing downstairs and retiring up the elevator with a bottle of San Pellegrino sparkling water in tow for the morning dehydration is a treat, always. Opening the door to the two-bedroom apartment, taking a lovely hot shower and tucking in bed with crispy white fluffy bedding with a cup of tea. Is sheer bliss.
Give it a try. The Regency Menlyn’s opening rates start from R1550 up to R3750 per apartment and are available until 31 December 2018. It includes daily breakfast and complimentary on-site parking with free wi-fi. For reservations, call 012 003 4777 or e-mail reservations@theregencygroup.co.za
