Marianne Fassler’s Celebrates 40 years in The Game With #FasslerFabulous AW17 collection

A renowned South African fashion designer brand most noticeable for its leopard print design aesthetic. Marianne Fassler & Co. are celebrating 40years of existence within the South African fashion landscape. The media notes states that “#Handson and Craft Is Still The New Luxury are both adjectives to describe the master craftsmanship of this collection, but also the ethos of the Marianne Fassler brand.” No prizes there for guessing, there is plenty of patterns, patterns disrupted and textures. It also appears that the noun ‘hand’ becomes a prefix because there is, “hand-beading, hand-craft, hand-embroidered, hand-made, hand-cut, hand-dyed etc. These are the skills that make up the Marianne Fassler brand and these were explored on steroids for the #FasslerFabulous AW17 collection.” states the media release. The mirror metaphor used in the campaign images communicate the brand’s reflection on 40years of knowledge and provide answers to the question, who is the Marianne Fassler girl and where is she going?

 

#FasslerFabulous launched @LeopardFrock on the 15th of March 2017. It is a pity I missed this show. Even experienced more fomo when I heard from Marianne Fassler herself, whom I was seated at the same table at the ‘French gastronomy  for all’ dinner party at the French Residence to celebrate “Goût de France-Good France” hosted by H.E. Mr Christophe Farnaud,  Ambassador of France to South Africa. That the launch event was quite a spectacle. A few weeks later I happen to have been seated next to Phaphama Ramogase at SA Fashion Week whom also reiterated by mentioned in passing that the event was everything! Word from Marianne Fassler team is that the launch event took shape in the form of a party at the studio. Guest were encouraged to find their #FF amongst 500 helium balloons. The launch focused on the Fassler experience and invited guests into the studio and the new archival space, to see how and where the magic happens.
